Farewell.... For Now

This weekend, I signed off for the last time. But the show went out swinging!

It was an absolute pleasure to attend the IMPACT Trophy Award ceremony at the Pacific Club and interview those in attendance, including all the nominees, Ronnie Lott, Founder Mike Salmon, and others amazing athletes and sporting celebrities.

The theme of the evening? Life beyond sports. How can sports best IMPACT a community? The legends and soon-to-be legends in the room shared this common purpose.

Quite a different focus than that of an Alabama judge who delayed a trial so everyone could travel out to Pasadena for the BCS Championship Game! Don't believe it? Check out this article:

Thanks to Marcia Smith of the OC Register for helping me bring the show full circle with a review of their top 10 sports men and women in OC from the past decade.

It's a great list to remind us all that Southern California produces and supports the most substantial pool of physical talent than any other area in the world. Hands down.

Durning this important time of year, I want to encourage all athletes and their families to consider how those inspirational accomplishments can be used for a greater purpose beyond the stats in the coming months! See what you can do to IMPACT others in the name of sports.

As for what is on the horizon for The Dr. Casey Show, well, that is yet to be fully decided. I am taking a step away from radio to develop a few other projects. Of course, the focus will be on excellence in sports and life, but the rest of the details will be coming shortly.

Special thanks to the staff of KLAA and to the decision makers who gave this experiment of a show so much support these past 13 months.
